Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN) recently released a new mobile platform that allows drivers to stay connected with their favorites services, all while keeping their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Most of the voice commands are based on Dragon Naturally Speaking technology and it allows users to send SMS text messages and even e-mails. It allows interaction with social media networks like Twitter and Facebook and even access to news, weather, and traffic.
Drivers have come to value the ability to control dialing, in-car entertainment and navigation systems using speech. Now drivers want on-demand access to real-time information and dynamic network services. They want to know which local fuel station has the best price on diesel. They want the latest weather conditions in their destination location. And they want up-to-date driving directions based on current maps. Month-old data and yesterday’s news will simply no longer suffice.
Look for the new platform to be available in new cars in the next few years.
